Water Testing

EMSL Analytical, Inc. provides microbiological testing services of water samples including potable, surface, purified and wastewater matrices according to a variety of methods including those published in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater. Commonly performed tests include Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC), Total coliform, E. coli, Fecal coliform, Enterococci, Pseudomonas and Fecal Streptococcus. EMSL offers a variety of Legionella species testing panels including by culture (ISO 11731 and CDC) and by PCR to accommodate potable and cooling tower water sources. Additionally, EMSL holds NJDEP accreditation for the testing of parasites Cryptosporidium and Giardia (EPA 1623.1) and offers identification services for algae and algal toxins. Bacteria associated with Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC) including iron related bacteria, sulfate reducing bacteria and nitrifying/denitrifying bacteria are also available using Biological Activity Reaction Test (BART) methods.
